AAU Welcomes New and Returning Students for Fall Semester

New and returning students flooded the hallways of AAU this week as the first classes have begun for autumn semester.

Students hopped off trams, buses and metro cars to enter classrooms once again, to meet with professors and fellow students.

“I’m very content with my first week adjusting to AAU and Prague,” said Asha, a first year student from California. “I’m having fun meeting new people.”

While many students come for study-abroad or have graduated, Davila Jylosdet, a third year Business and Marketing major spoke on being a returning student.

“A lot of my friends are gone but it’s always nice to meet new people,” Jylosdet said.

Cafe De Taxis was especially busy this week, as the social hub of the school. People caught up on each other’s summer plans and met new or familiar classmates to caffeinate themselves for class.

School coordinator Asya Kibko explained what she is excited about for students. She works primarily with first years.

“I am [excited to] get to see faces and finally meet [the students] in person,” said Kibko.

AAU exchange senior Zoey Lucas is relaxed going into her final year.

“I’m excited about my classes,” said Lucas. “My professor said they won’t fail anyone […] so as long as I participate, I’ll be fine.”

The excitement and nerves surrounding the first week of school will have an outlet at the end of the week, with Community Day on Friday offering a time for students to get to know one another outside of class.
