The Odyssey officially released in Prague on July 17 in an extremely rare film format, one that can only be viewed in three movie theaters in the European Union, including Prague’s Cinema City Flora.
Director Christopher Nolan filmed the entire movie for a true 70mm IMAX screen, which makes it only viewable in EU cities Prague, Brussels and Montpellier. These three cities join less than 40 others with these theaters worldwide.
An IMAX 70mm screen is 22 x 16 meters, which is about twice the width of a regular cinema screen. This means the audience misses certain filmed scenery when they watch The Odyssey on a regular cinema screen.

Thousands of people from all over Europe flocked all summer and into the school year to Prague to view The Odyssey in 70mm. The film brought vast numbers of international tourists, many with the main objective of entering the Cinema City Flora theater.
Due to this high demand, tickets sold out quickly in Prague. In September, however, tickets are much more available and can be purchased in advance for multiple viewing times throughout the day.
Tickets to The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm are currently available at Cinema City Flora in Praha 3 and can be purchased online at cinemacity.cz. Tickets can be purchased for 599 Kč each just over a week in advance.
