The courtyard filled with fresh voices last Friday as Community Day brought free coffee, trivia and a DJ to AAU’s campus.
Festivities began at 10:30 in the morning at the celebration of the new semester beginning, with free coffee and cookies for the AAU community of professors, faculty and students.
“[Community Day] let students from all years bond, socialize and get to know one another,” said Cameran Vierthaler, Student Council Club Coordinator and second year student. “Teachers and students also mingled and got the opportunity to talk outside of class which provide[d] a unique experience.”
The day was not just for socializing in the courtyard. School sessions took place about modern hot topics, like ‘democracy in an age of disinformation,’ before a free community lunch was served in the courtyard.
A portrait was also unveiled in the main hall in a ceremony to honor Lenka Deverová and her contribution to AAU as one of the institutional founders.
The festivities returned to a more social scene with AAU trivia at 13:30.
After another round of free coffee, a DJ played a community concert for everyone at 16:00 to end the day’s events with a lively soundtrack.
The festivities of Community Day served to mark a positive start to a new semester of enriching experiences at AAU.
