October 31st is approaching quickly, and along with the lowering temperatures come the cold, undead spirits that haunt Prague. Get your scare on and remember to pack an extra pair of panties as you dive into Prague’s ghostly experiences this spooky season.
Prague Fear House–Vodičkova 700/32
Explore a variety of urban legends such as a 15th century butcher shop, abandoned after evil spirits were awakened by the brutal practices, or the man who tortured children under the Nazi Regime, hiding his Jewish wife and daughter amongst them. The cellar is accessible today, if you dare to go.
Tickets for “regular” fear levels suitable for ages 15 and up cost 450czk, the “hardcore experience”, for 18+ only, costs 1500czk. And if you’re feeling devilish, for 2000czk you can have a friend (or enemy) kidnapped to the Vodičkova Street cellars.
The Prague Fear House also offers tours through Prague’s Catacombs. This tour examines World War II history from Prague’s underground as well as the much older legends that haunt the tunnels, like the Golem and vampires. Although frightening, this tour is available to children ages 6 and up, so no need to bring extra underwear.
Prague Underground Tours–Malé náměstí 459/11
If you’re a fan of the eerie, visiting the “Ghosts, Legends, Medieval Underground & Dungeon” experience through Prague Underground Tours promises an adventure full of dark alleyways and long-forgotten secrets.
A guide will lead you through the dark streets of Prague’s Old Town and Jewish Quarters while dressed in costume and carrying a lantern. The tour also ventures into the medieval underground to discover an alchemy laboratory, and hear the tale of the Prague Golem.
This is a 70+ minute experience diving into Prague’s strange past with the final stop at a dungeon containing the medieval torture devices of the infamous Prague executioner, Jan Mydář.
With a student discount, tickets are priced at 550czk and can be purchased online or at the Prague Underground Tour’s ticket office.
Thrill Park–Provaznická 399/11
This immersive experience is a maze through the basement of an old Prague home, forcing victims to squeeze through tight corridors, and crawl down dark tunnels; a thrill costing 760czk.
Thrill Park also offers a “Real-Life Experiment” escape room where participants are chained, blindfolded and challenged under stress in a creepy 1950’s medical laboratory. Tickets for the 40 minute experience are 475czk.
The Chamber Escape Rooms—The Chamber Escape Rooms
The Chamber Escape Rooms is an experience for psychological horror fans. The escape room boasts that film industry expert designers have created the ultimate and most immersive horror experience. You can choose between a variety of halloween themed rooms including Haunted House and Poltergeist.
For example the Haunted House escape room takes you to a world where self-moving objects, banging doors and voices that come from the walls are just the start of the mystery. Forget basic jumpscares because this room is carefully built to enfold you in psychological suspense where you must defeat an evil you cannot see. The difficulty is medium, but the horror is top-tier.
Located at Petrské náměsti 1, both of these 60-minute escape room experiences are a perfect Halloween activity for a group of 2 to 6 players. The price depends on the date chosen and the quantity of players.
While many of the horrific events that Prague’s haunted experiences draw from took place long ago, the spirit of the unfortunate and desolate souls continue to haunt the streets of this city. Tread lightly thrill seekers.
