Between deadlines, midterm exams and long hours inside, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and one of the simplest ways to reset is to get outside.
Prague has lush green parks and paths along the Vltava River that make staying active both easy and enjoyable. Whether you prefer running, biking, or walking, Prague has something to clear your head and move your body.
Run

According to the presidents of AAU Run Club, running is not only a great way to stay active during the semester, but also a way to explore the city and build community.
Since becoming presidents of Run Club, Josie Robinette and Liza Potts say they enjoyed discovering new routes across Prague. Popular spots include the paths along Náplavka, as well as routes through Stromovka and Letná Park, especially during Spring time.
“We’ve had the best time discovering new routes around Prague. One of my favorite spots to run is along Náplavka, where the greenway is right along the river,” Robinette said.
The club typically organizes relaxed 5k runs followed by coffee that welcomes runners of all levels.
Potts also recommends exploring trails slightly outside the busiest parts of the city.
“Troja trail is not one to sleep on,” Potts said.
The Troja area offers a quieter, nature-focused route for students looking for a change of scenery while still staying close to the city.
AAU Run club has two runs this month. Find the details on their Instagram, @aau.runclub.
Bike
Cycling is another easy way to stay active while exploring longer routes across Prague. Some of the best wide bike paths run along the river near Prague Zoo in Prague 7. It’s a great place to escape the busy city and see a new part of Prague.
For students who do not own a bike, the pink shared bicycles from Rekola are a convenient option. With the PID Lítačka app, the first 15 minutes are free twice per day. After that, rides cost 35 CZK per 30 minutes.
Simply download the Rekola app, find a nearby bike, scan the QR code and park in an approved area when finished. However, make sure to return the bike back to designated spots or expect a … fine.
Along with beautiful views, this route hosts many beer gardens and picnic spots, perfect for warm days.
Walk
Walking is the easiest way to get outside during your busy week. Short walks between classes or study sessions can help clear your head without requiring extra planning or equipment. Simply turn on your favorite playlist and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Popular spots include the paths around Petřín Hill & Vyšehrad for city views, Riegrovy Sady for the best sunset spot and Divoká Šárka for forest and rocky outlooks. Even a quick walk can make a noticeable difference in focus and stress levels during the semester.
Sometimes the best study break isn’t another coffee but a walk through Prague itself.
