As the AAU masquerade ball quickly approaches, pulling something formal together on a budget can be tough, but with Prague’s vibrant thrift scene, students can find a stunning outfit to wear for the eventful night.
Here is a guide to second hand stores around Prague where students can shop for an elegant yet affordable outfit.
Vintage Shop – two locations: Prague 7 and Prague 8
If you want options, this is your place. Both stores have large collections of vintage clothing, full of uniquely designed gowns and suits. Prices throughout the store range but with some digging you can easily find options for less than 500 CZK.
Genesis Second Hand – five locations around Prague 1 and 2
This is the budget friendly thrift store with a wide selection of clothing. Besides occasional store-wide sales, everything is 200 CZK and under, and while you may have to spend longer searching for the perfect piece, the find will be worth the price.
Dresscode Vintage – Prague 2
This is a small but curated shop that has potential for you to find your entire ball outfit. Stocked with dresses, suits, shoes, and bags, all of the items are hand selected and stylish. Prices vary, but there are plenty of options around 300-500 crowns.
Crashily – Prague 2
This is another small shop of alternative style clothing for those looking to dress feminine. It’s a bit more expensive, but the pieces stand out. Crashily is also a great place to find statement accessories to spice up your look.
Kuzmarkt Vintage Shop – Prague 7
This is a unique vintage shop with many eye-catching options. The bi-level store has suits downstairs, and a dress collection upstairs. The selection is more high end vintage so prices range around CZK 400 and up.
Party World – three locations around Prague 1, 2, and 5
Once you have your outfit, you’ll need to pick up a mask. This is a costume store with multiple locations around town where you can find a plethora of masks usually for no more than CZK 500.
Happy hunting and see you on April 23.
