This afternoon students at the New York University of Prague (UNYP) and Czech Technical University (CVUT) received a text message urging them to evacuate the campus immediately due to bomb threats.
A police officer outside CVUT said that four hours earlier, a mass email had been sent to high schools, which authorities were initially investigating.
CVUT students were notified via text that a threat had been directed at the RCVUT building by an anonymous email to the university.

Meanwhile, UNYP instructed students to evacuate all campus buildings immediately, but the alert was sent to only a select group of students. A follow-up message confirmed that the bomb threat at UNYP had passed but police presence outside remains heightened.
“I was in class when the fire alarm went off. There had been fire drills before, so we thought everything was fine, until the director came and started telling people to ‘get outside, leave the building,’” said Valeria Corona, a first-year student at UNYP. “It was around 2 p.m.”
The recommended procedure suggests to refrain from touching suspicious objects, evacuate and notify the Czech Police by calling 158.
In late 2024, similar threats were sent to hundreds of Czech and Slovak universities, which were later determined to be hoaxes causing temporary evacuations and heightened security measures.
This is a developing story and further updates will be added.
